Abstract: To describe the patterns of use, clinical outcomes, and dose-volume histogram parameters of high-dose-rate interstitial brachytherapy (HDR-ISBT) in the management of Bartholin's gland cancer. Five patients with Stage II-III Bartholin's gland carcinoma...

Incidence and clinical course of radionecrosis in children with brain tumors. A 20-year longitudinal observational study.
Abstract: Radionecrosis (RN) in children treated for brain tumors represents a potentially severe long-term complication. Its diagnosis is challenging, since magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) cannot clearly discriminate between RN and tumor recurrence. A retrospective...
The initial evaluation of the diabetic foot ulcer.
Abstract: This article is a comprehensive clinical review of the initial evaluation of diabetic foot disease. Orr, , , , , , , , (). The initial evaluation of the diabetic foot ulcer.ย Missouri medicine,...
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in case of hemorrhagic cystitis after radiotherapy.
Abstract: We present the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) after radiotherapy for cancer in the pelvic cavity resulting in hematuria. Increasing the pressure of oxygen (PO2) in ischemic tissues favors the formation of new blood vessels and increases the...
Brain tissue oxygen monitoring and hyperoxic treatment in patients with traumatic brain injury.
Abstract: Cerebral ischemia is a well-recognized contributor to high morbidity and mortality after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Standard of care treatment aims to maintain a sufficient oxygen supply to the brain by avoiding increased intracranial pressure (ICP) and...
Systematic review of the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygenation therapy in the management of chronic diabetic foot ulcers.
Abstract: To assess the efficacy and safety of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) therapy as adjunctive treatment for diabetic foot ulcers with a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature. MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library were searched to find relevant...
Elevation of glutathione as a therapeutic strategy in Alzheimer disease
Abstract Oxidative stress has been associated with the onset and progression of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer disease (AD). AD and MCI brain and plasma display extensive oxidative stress as indexed by protein oxidation, lipid peroxidation, free radical...
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and cancer–a review.
Hypoxia is a critical hallmark of solid tumors and involves enhanced cell survival, angiogenesis, glycolytic metabolism, and metastasis. Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment has for centuries been used to improve or cure disorders involving hypoxia and ischemia, by enhancing the amount of dissolved oxygen in the plasma and thereby increasing O(2) delivery to the tissue. Studies on HBO and cancer have up to recently focused on whether enhanced oxygen acts as a cancer promoter or not. As oxygen is believed to be required for all the major processes of wound healing, one feared that the effects of HBO would be applicable to cancer tissue as well and promote cancer growth. Furthermore, one also feared that exposing patients who had been treated for cancer, to HBO, would lead to recurrence.
Hyperbaric oxygenation improves locomotor ability by enhancing neuroplastic responses after cortical ablation in rats.
Abstract: To investigate whether hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) can improve the recovery of motor functions in rats after suction ablation of the right sensorimotor cortex. The experimental paradigm implies the following groups: Control animals (C), Controlโ+โHBO...
