Abstract: Evaluate the application of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) in patients with Crohn's disease (CD) refractory to pharmacologic therapy, who developed abdominal, anorectal or skin complications. Fourteen selected patients with refractory CD and treated at the...

A phase I study of low-pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy for blast-induced post-concussion syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder.
This is a preliminary report on the safety and efficacy of 1.5 ATA hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in military subjects with chronic blast-induced mild to moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI)/post-concussion syndrome (PCS) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Sixteen military subjects received 40 1.5 ATA/60 min HBOT sessions in 30 days. Symptoms, physical and neurological exams, SPECT brain imaging, and neuropsychological and psychological testing were completed before and within 1 week after treatment. Subjects experienced reversible middle ear barotrauma (5), transient deterioration in symptoms (4), and reversible bronchospasm (1);
Fabry disease presenting with sudden hearing loss and otosclerosis: a case report.
Abstract: Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder resulting in a multiple-system disorder with a wide spectrum of physical signs and symptoms, predominantly affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems, skin, heart, kidneys, and eyes. We...
Treatment of Fournier’s Gangrene with Combination of Vacuum-Assisted Closure Therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, and Protective Colostomy.
Abstract: Fournier's gangrene is a rare process which affects soft tissue in the genital and perirectal area. It can also progress to all different stages of sepsis, and abdominal compartment syndrome can be one of its complications. Two patients in septic shock due...
Age-dependent response of murine female bone marrow cells to hyperbaric oxygen.
Abstract: Consequences of age on the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) on bone marrow (BM) derived stem cells and progenitors (SCPs) are largely unknown. We treated 2- and 18-month old C57BL/6 female mice by HBO. Hematopoietic stem cells and progenitors, enumerated...

Hyperbaric oxygen for neurologic indications–action plan for multicenter trials in: stroke, traumatic brain injury, radiation encephalopathy & status migrainosus.
Abstract: The 2008 Toronto Hyperbaric Medicine Symposium was convened to discuss research into neurologic indications for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO2T). Four topics were particularly addressed: acute ischemic stroke; acute traumatic brain injury; brain radiation...

Effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on tense repair of the peripheral nerves.
Abstract: After a peripheral nerve cut, tense repair of a nerve compromises circulation of the nerve at the injury site, making the site hypoxic. Hyperbaric oxygen might increase tissue oxygenation and therefore diminish the effects of injury. We investigated whether...
